LED teeth???
The first time I read this, I thought someone had goofed up and mixed two headings related to, may be, LED screens somewhere and teeth.
The very next day, I happened to meet a dentist friend and when I brought up the ?goof up’ with him, he told me that I was the one who was goofing up facts!
We have all always wanted a dazzling smile!
A smile that would light up the entire room?. Trust the Japanese to make your dreams come true!!

When Happydent launched their series of commercials in India in 200X, they could not have thought in their wildest imaginations that flashing LED teeth would become a reality. Not just reality, mind you!! A fashion statement.
For those of you who are still wonder-struck, let me tell you how it all began.
The LED teeth fashion mantra was kickstarted by an advertisement in Japan. In this ad for a garment store, Laforet Harajuku, the teeth of the models would glow in different colors when they smiled.

One of the designers who worked for this ad, Motoi Ishibashi, says he was inspired by a video of LED throwies he saw last year while designing these LED teeth. (These throwies consist of small lights that are attached to magnets, which can then be stuck on to any metallic surfaces, and work like lighted graffiti).
Little did the designers of this ad realize that they were setting a new trend!
LED teeth became such a hit among schoolgirls in Japan, who say that having them is like a ?party in the mouth”, that the technologists for this ad- Mr. Ishibashi and Daito Manabe, are actually conducting workshops across Japan to help people build their own set of LED teeth!
A set of LED teeth consists of an insert which can be attached to the teeth like a mouth guard. This insert lights up your smile whenever you open your mouth! Some of them even come with a wireless hand-held device which allows the wearer of the contraption to change the color of your smile!
A click of a button can change the color of your teeth from a ghastly red to a fluorescent green!!
